500 km/h Fast | Super Small Rocket
Переглядів 2 тис.5 місяців тому
I built a rocket last year and failed miserably. This year was different, I had a good start into 2024. The bRocket (baby Rocket) flew 250m high with a peak velocity of approx. 500 km/h. Very happy about that result! Hello, a very helpful series, but the model aircraft I tried to analyze is stuck on reading airfoil, even though the direct path is already stated in the .avl file. I exported the plane from XFLR5. Please help, thank you.

    Excellent job! 👍 I like your thinking and that you share all things you do. 👍 They say that most effective setup for windturbines is 3 blade one. Try it. Also I would like if you could design some permanent setup of electronic for reliable production of electric energy. That would be nice for all less skilled enthusiasts and makers. 👍 👍👍

    Hi, i was wondering if AVL can take as an import an .stl or some form of CAD file generated in a CAD software (i.e. Rhinoceros) or if the only way to import a geometry is through the avl geometry file.

  • @wordcarr8750

    LOL, evidently this is how an "electronics person" enters/learns to do model rocketry. The "aerodynamics person" would know about relative locations of cg & cp but be at a loss in developing their own in-flight monitoring; which IMO is no small feat. Wonder why no 'recovery system' like parachute or streamer was tried? Even though a small rocket, streamer/s could have been included? The motor being a C6-7 had an ejection charge that separated the rocket sections. So further aerodynamic advancements might include a "stretch cord" that attaches to both (separated) sections, for easier recoverability, and a parachute or streamer to reduce falling speed.

    • @BenjaminKelm
      @BenjaminKelm 5 місяців тому

      Haha, well said. Yes, there was a parachute, but the ejection charge was too violent, ripping the chord.

    Seit diesem Video sind jetzt 7 Jahre vergangen. Wie bewertest Du Deine Aktion mit diesem zeitlichen Abstand, Benjamin? Hattest Du Gelegenheit Deine alpinistischen und fliegerischen Fähigkeiten weiterzuentwickeln? In Deinem Video ist auffällig, dass das Fazit "lieber Ski mitzunehmen wenn man soetwas macht" den alpinen Gefahren denen man sich hier unwissend ausgesetzt hat nicht ansatzweise gerecht wird. Offenbar wurde also nichts gelernt oder zumindest nicht das richtige. Weder diskutierst Du die Lawinensituation (Nachmittags im weichen Schnee, einige bereits ausgelöste Schneebretter sind in Deinem Video zu sehen) noch deinen aussichtslosen Aufstiegsversuch (aus Deinem Track kann man erkennen dass Du von Deinem Landeplatz zum Grat ca 150 hm aufgestiegen bist, dafür hast Du nach eigener Aussage 2 Stunden gebraucht. Das zeigt, dass Du in diesem Gelände nichts verloren hattest), und nicht zuletzt Deine Falschbehauptung auf einem Gletscher gelandet zu sein (Du bist in der Nähe der Göppinger Hütte gelandet, da ist nix mit Gletscher, das ist ganz normaler Altschnee wie es ihn halt im Mai noch hat. Der Gletscher ist zwei Berge weiter nordöstlich an der Nordflanke.). Wie siehst Du diese Aktion mittlerweile?

    I am building a small scale wind turbine for my university project. The question I am interested in, is how to figure out the lift coefficient, power and rpm values to put into my calculation. How do lift coefficient and power that I want to generate effect the calculation explicitly? Does increasing the rpm put much more stress on the blades? How to quantify all these effects and decide which values I need? The diameter of my wind turbine is 35 cm. I don't think it can generate much power, maybe not even 5W? I am scared to put too much rpm, to not break the blades, and can't figure out the lift coefficient value, because when I put 0.7 it says that it stalls? Thanks in advance! Loved the video!

    • @BenjaminKelm
      @BenjaminKelm Рік тому

      Hey, hope you're still in the process of the project. It's a multidisciplinary optimization problem: Strucutral integrity (low RPM, big blades) vs. aerodynamic efficiency (small blades/high aspect ration, mid RPM). Generally, you want to have a balanced design - just stay with acceptable blade aspect ratio (10-15) and keep RPM low.

    • @BenjaminKelm
      @BenjaminKelm Рік тому

      The attached aileron (control surfaces) help to yaw the aircraft. Apart from that, the wings are only needed in transition or horizontal flight

  • @alfredspijkerman
    @alfredspijkerman Рік тому

    Great project. Hydrofoils are indeed very efficient but control is a real pain! Another aspect you might not have thought about is that the lifting force depends on water depth too. Actually efficiency is optimal for 2-3x cord of the wing, with less water depth efficiency drops significantly. It amazes me that you got this to work with such simple and cost effective stuff. Actuators maybe above water and mechanically transfer to wingtips. Great job, extremely well done. This is really not easy.

    • @BenjaminKelm
      @BenjaminKelm Рік тому

      Thank you Alfred, I really had to tune the system a lot before effectiveness of the control surfaces was enough. If I had time for a second design, there'd be a lot of things I'd change. Tip actuators being one of them.
